The cow has four tummies (well, sort of)
A 20-second animal fact for toddlers, told by our cow herself – with her real moo at the end. Press play, then count the tummies together.
“I have 4 tummies!”
The grown-up version: a cow has one stomach with four compartments – rumen, reticulum, omasum and abomasum. Grass travels through them one by one, and on the way she burps it up and chews it again (that's the cud). For a toddler, “four tummies” is close enough – and it's a number you can count on her belly: 1, 2, 3, 4.
Try it at home
- 1Knock on the table. “Knock knock… who's there?”
- 2Wait. Let your child guess (or moo). The pause is where the learning happens.
- 3“Moooo!” Then tap four fingers on a tummy – yours or a toy's – and count out loud.
Why a moo is a big deal
Animal sounds are often among a toddler's very first words – “moo” is easier to say than “cow”, and it gets a reaction every time. Every door in Knock Knock opens with the animal's real sound, not a cartoon one, so the moo your child copies is the real thing.
In the app
The door knocks, your child guesses who's hiding, the door opens – and the cow says moo. Since version 2.0 she also copies your child's faces in the Magic Mirror and answers back in her own voice. All of it happens on your device: nothing is recorded or sent anywhere.
